Helios Hospital Bad Saarow: PD Dr. med. Tobias Klatte new Head Physician at the Clinic for Urology
PD Dr. med. Tobias Klatte took over as Chief Medical Director of the Urology Clinic at Helios Hospital Bad Saarow on December 1, 2023. He has extensive clinical experience in open, laparoscopic and robot-assisted urology. The previous Head Physician of Urology, Dr. med. Steffen Hallmann, is primarily moving to Fürstenwalde to work in private practice, but will also remain at the Urology Clinic as a part-time Senior Consultant.
PD Dr. med. Tobias Klatte has many years of surgical expertise in a wide range of urological procedures. He specializes in major tumour surgery for prostate, bladder, testicular and kidney tumours, plastic-reconstructive surgery, the treatment of urinary stone disease and the treatment of benign prostate enlargement. The 43-year-old also specializes in the medical treatment of tumour diseases. Dr. med. Klatte also has numerous scientific publications and research awards to his name, particularly in the field of urological oncology.
His scientific focus is on prognostic factors in urological tumor diseases, cost-benefit analyses, perioperative medicine, biomarkers and clinical studies.
Professional career
After completing his medical studies at the University of Magdeburg, PD Dr. med. Tobias Klatte worked for two years as a research assistant at the Urology Clinic of the University of California in Los Angeles.
He completed his specialist training at the Medical University of Vienna. He also completed his habilitation and appointment as a private lecturer there in 2012. He worked as an associate professor in Vienna until 2017.
He then gained further valuable experience as a specialist in urological surgery in England at Cambridge and Dorset University Hospitals. During this time, he was accepted as a Fellow of the prestigious Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
Until his move to Bad Saarow, Dr. Klatte worked as Deputy Clinic Director at the Urology Department of the Charité at Campus Mitte and Benjamin Franklin. He recently completed a part-time Master's degree in Management and Health Economics at the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg.
